Anandapur: An 8-foot long python has been found in the Lord Shiva temple premises in Keonjhar district of Odisha on Sunday. The huge reptile was found in the drain of the Lord Shiva temple in the Duara Sahi of Gadabandhagoda village under Ramachandrapur police station limits in Anandapur area of the district.
As per reports, when the evening prayer was going on at the temple yesterday evening some youths spotted the huge python in the drain in the temple premises. They were frightened to witness such a big reptile.
They immediately called the Forest Department to rescue the snake. After getting information the Forest Department officials reached the spot and rescued the snake from the drain.
Later, the snake catchers released the python into the core area of the Baranga protected forest.
For the last few years, pythons have been rescued from various villages in the Baranga and local Patilo protected forest areas.
