47126 Stray dogs in Bhubaneswar, reveals BMC Census Report

Bhubaneswar: BMC has conducted a stray dog ​​census to know about presence of stray dogs under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area. The census report has found that there are 47126 stray dogs in Bhubaneswar.

As per information, the stray dog census by BMC revealed that there are a total of 47 thousand 126 stray dogs in BMC area. Out of them, 23 thousand 47 are male dogs, while 15 thousand 552 are female dogs and 1124 are puppies. Out of them, 4,068 male dogs have been neutered and 3,335 female dogs have been neutered.

The stray dog ​​census was conducted in two phases between September 18 and 25. The census was conducted in all the streets of 67 wards in BMC area between 5 am and 7 pm. For this, 410 teams were formed under the supervision of a senior veterinary doctor, comprising Swachh Sathi, Swachh Supervisor, Inspector, Community Organizer and DEO.

The report further revealed that the 10 wards with the highest number of stray dogs are 23, 7, 49, 65, 4. 9. 5. 56, 43, and 6. There are 1703 stray dogs in ward number 23 and 1062 stray dogs in ward number 6.

For the first time, BMC has conducted a dog census using a detailed survey method. Other states have conducted a dog census using a sample survey method.
