Sahu came across the carcasses of the dead sheep after visiting his cattle shed located near his house this morning. While the circumstance under which the animals were found dead pointed at a wild animal attack, injury marks were also found all over their bodies. The attack is suspected to have been taken place late last night.
Similarly, one sheep of neighbouring Dihabansahi village also sustained injury in mystery animal attack in the same night. The sheep belongs to one Pahali Behera.
Panic struck Niali area earlier this year, after at least 150 sheep were killed by an unknown creature within a span of 45 days till July. At that time, state minister for forest and environment Bijayshree Routray blamed a wolf or a pack of wolves locally called Rama Siala for the attacks.
