30 kg Lord Shiva-Parvati statue caught in fishing net in Puri district, watch

Puri: A statue of Lord Shiva and Parvati weighing about 30 kg was caught in the fishing net in Puri district of Odisha on Thursday. The rare idol was recovered from under the bridge of Nuanai (River) on the Puri-Konark main road under ​​​​Puri Sadar police station limits.

As per reports, Prakash Chandra Swain of Beladal village was fishing under the bridge of the Nuanai on the Puri-Konark main road today morning when he observed that the said rare statue was caught.

The statue is made off eight metals (ashta dhatu) while ‘Baba Banambareswar’ has been written on it. The said idol of Shiva and Parvati weighted more than 30 kg and the two idols are placed on a 2-foot pedestal.

Prakash Chandra Swain reported this to the Puri Sadar police station after which police reached the spot and seized the statue.

An investigation is underway to find out how it came to this place.
