New-Delhi: The workers at the Fatehabad toll plaza on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway unsatisfied with the Diwali bonus opened all the gates of the toll plaza and let thousand of vehicles cross without paying toll charges.

The protest led to a major disruption in normal toll operations and traffic flow, prompting the police to rush to the scene.

The unrest began when the 21 employees at the Fatehabad toll plaza, managed by Shri Sign & Datar company, voiced discontent over receiving only Rs 1100 as a Diwali bonus. The company took over toll management in March this year, which led to disagreements over bonus calculations.

After the dissatisfaction, the workers decide to halt their work and opened all toll gates and let go all vehicles.

As thousands of vehicles passed through without paying, toll management attempted to continue operations by bringing in staff from other toll plazas. However, protesting employees prevented these replacements from working, further escalating the disruption.

Upon learning of the situation, police forces reached the toll plaza to ensure peace and to facilitate dialogue between the company officials and the agitating workers.

The senior officials of Shri Sign & Datar promised a 10% salary increase as a quick resolution. Following this assurance, employees resumed work, and normal toll collection operations were restored after approximately two hours of disruption.
