Speeding Thar runs over teen twice in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj

New-Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 13-year-old boy on a bicycle was allegedly crushed to death after a Mahindra Thar ran over him twice in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area, the Delhi Police said.
The incident took place near an Indian Oil petrol pump in Vasant Kunj at around 2 pm. According to the eyewitness, the SUV first hit the car and then crushed under the wheels as the driver reversed and fled the scene.
The boy has been identified as Murshid, a student of class VIII who lived in a Juggi near the spot in Sector C.
As per police, they received a call regarding the incident and when they reached the spot, they saw the boy was lying unconscious on the road. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but he was brought dead.
According to Murshid’s family, the teenager was out to buy samosas after returning from school at around 4.30pm. An eyewitness said that the speeding black-coloured Thar hit the 13-year-old from behind as he was crossing the road.
Police said that the accused driving the Black Mahindra Thar has not yet been traced and investigators are on the lookout for the accused using CCTV footage from the area.
A case has been registered under sections 281 (rash or negligent driving) and 106(1) causing death by negligence of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Vasant Kunj North Police station.
