Senior IPS officer found dead in Haryana, self-killing suspected
The deceased senior police officer has been identified as Y Puran Kumar.
New Delhi: A senior IPS officer of the Haryana cadre, was found dead at his residence in Sector 11, Chandigarh on Tuesday. Preliminary investigations suggest that he allegedly shot himself with his service revolver.
The deceased senior police officer has been identified as Y Puran Kumar.
According to Chandigarh Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kanwardeep Kaur, police received information about the incident around 1:30 pm. Kumar’s daughter discovered his body in the soundproof basement of their home.
The Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) team is currently investigating the scene, and a post-mortem examination is underway to determine the exact cause of death.
Kumar, a 2001-batch IPS officer, was serving as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) at the Police Training College in Sunaria, Rohtak.
