Madhya Pradesh police arrested Sresan Pharma owner over the deaths of as many as 20 children linked to cough syrup Coldrif
In a major success for the police in the cough syrup case in Madhya Pradesh, the owner of the cough syrup manufacturing company Sresan Pharma has been arrested.
The owner G. Ranganathan was arrested from Chennai by the police. The police are interrogating Ranganathan in custody. The police were searching for Ranganathan since the incident came to light.
It is worth mentioning here that as many as 20 children have died in Madhya Pradesh after consuming the cough syrup. In view of this serious case, the Madhya Pradesh police announced a reward on the absconding owner of the Sresan medicine company.
It announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for anyone who helps in arresting the accused in the cough syrup coldrif case.
A special SIT team was also formed to arrest the absconding owners of the company at the earliest. As a result, Ranganathan was arrested. Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Health Narendra Shivaji Patel on Wednesday said that 20 children in the state have died after consuming contaminated cough syrup and the Tamil Nadu government is responsible for this gross negligence.
Patel told ANI, “It was the responsibility of the Tamil Nadu government to test the medicines being sent out of the state. The Madhya Pradesh government also tests the medicines coming into the state regularly, but this syrup was accidentally missing in that sample.”
Twenty children died due to kidney failure after consuming this poisonous cough syrup. Many children in Madhya Pradesh suffered kidney failure after consuming this poisonous cough syrup. A total of 20 children have died during treatment so far.
