How food choices fuel Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) epidemic
Eating more whole grains, nuts, and fiber-rich foods can help. Cutting back on salt, sugar, and junk food is a big step.
The way we eat in India is making us sick. More than half of the country’s health problems come from unhealthy food choices, leading to diseases like diabetes, heart issues, and even cancer . We’re eating too many processed foods like chips, sugary drinks, and fast food, which are making us obese and unhealthy.
When we’re busy, we often grab whatever’s quick, and that’s usually not the healthiest option. Most people in cities eat out a lot, and we’re not getting enough whole grains, fruits, and veggies. This is causing big problems. A research has suggested that diabetes is going to affect 134 million Indians by 2045, and heart diseases are killing people way too early.
The good news is we can fix this. Eating more whole grains, nuts, and fiber-rich foods can help. Cutting back on salt, sugar, and junk food is a big step. And moving more – like walking or exercising – makes a huge difference. Small changes in what we eat can save us from a lot of health troubles. Time to eat smarter!
