Cleaner trains in India in minutes: Railway introduces portable high pressure machines

Indian Railways upgrades clean train scheme with aircraft-style cleaning enhancing passenger experience and hygiene standards.

Indian Railways is modernizing its Clean Train Station (CTS) program to increase levels of cleanliness and hygiene. Here are some of the updates:

The new CTS system will be rolled out at 20 select stations in eight zones, on 683 trains, for trains stopping for 10 minutes or more.The system entails mechanized cleaning of trains within short stops using battery-operated portable vacuum cleaners and high-pressure jet cleaners in backpack type. The cleaning personnel will have pocketed uniforms with brushes and bottles of chemicals in them to provide a hands-free operation.

Mechanized cleaning: Trains shall be cleaned with the help of high-pressure jet cleaning machines and vacuum cleaners.
Time efficient: The whole cleaning process should be performed within 10 minutes.
Improved uniforms: Workers’ uniforms shall include pockets for storing cleaning equipment.

Implementation:

The new scheme will be implemented at 20 stations, among them being Patna, Varanasi, and Old Delhi Railway Station. Indian Railways wants to improve the experience of passengers as well as keep the standards of cleanliness up. The project is a part of the overall initiative of modernizing railway stations and better amenities to the passenger.
