Aliens might have stopped trying to contact humans, Says NASA scientist
NASA scientists say that Aliens may have once tried to contact humans but eventually stopped out of boredom or lack of motivation.
Aliens may have once tried to contact humans but eventually stopped out of boredom or lack of motivation, according to NASA scientist Dr Robin Corbet. His new study offers a fresh and simple explanation for why we haven’t yet heard from extra-terrestrial life.
Dr Corbet shared his theory in a research paper titled ‘A Less Terrifying Universe? Mundanity as an Explanation for the Fermi Paradox’. He introduced the idea of “radical mundanity,” which suggests that alien civilizations could exist but may not be far more advanced than humans. Their technology might be only slightly better, like having an iPhone 42 instead of an iPhone 17.
He then explained that while these civilizations might have the ability to send strong signals or probes through space, doing so would require huge amounts of energy and time, possibly millions or even billions of years. Because of this, aliens might have lost interest in making contact or decided it wasn’t worth the effort.
Dr Corbet also believes that these civilizations likely do not use extraordinary technologies like faster than light travel or control over dark energy. Instead, the universe might be much more ordinary and less dramatic than people often imagine and any real contact with aliens might even feel underwhelming.
Despite these ideas, scientists continue to search for life beyond Earth. They are studying more than 5,500 known exoplanets, many of which are located in habitable zones where conditions could support life.
