Subarnapur: BDO cycles 15 km to hear people’s grievances in remote village

According to him, along with working in the office, one should also take out some time to do something for his/her health. So the BDO thought that by cycling to the village to serve the people he can create awareness.

Subarnapur: A Block Development Officer (BDO) in Subarnapur district of Odisha has earned praise from people for his unique effort in lately as he cycled about 15 km to reach a village where he heard people’s grievances. His intention was to convey a message that health is wealth and we must do something to keep ourselves healthy.

Meet Sanjeev Kumar Sahu, the BDO of Sonepur Block in Subarnapur district who has earned praise lately for his cycle ride.

A grievance hearing had been scheduled for last Monday in Kalapathar village, about 15 km from Sonepur, the district Headquarter of Subarnapur district in Odisha.

Despite being provided with official transportation and possibly having personal vehicles, Sahu chose to cycle to the village. Yet, he decided to take the pain of pedaling about 15 km to reach the village for the grievance hearing.

According to him, along with working in the office, one should also take out some time to do something for his/her health. It has been observed that these days many people are not taking out time for their health and after some years facing health issues. So the BDO thought that by cycling to the village to serve the people he can create awareness.

On Monday, Sahu rode his bicycle for 15 km and attended the grievance hearing in Kalapathhar panchayat, where people were waiting for him. His initiative has been widely praised, with many hailing it as a commendable effort.
