Puri: In a rare sight, the full moon was witnessed aligned with the Nilachakra of the Patitapabana Bana, the gigantic flag atop the famous Lord Jagannath temple, known as Srimandira, in the holy city of Puri, Odisha.
Thousands of devotees witnessed this spectacle this evening from the Badadanda, the grand road.
According to eyewitnesses, as the winter evening set in, the moon rose in the sky and eventually aligned with the Nilachakra of the Patitapabana flag, creating a rare sight. Devotees consider this a good sign from God.
It’s worth noting that various festivals are observed at Srimandira throughout the year, with the three idols adorned in different beshas or attire on specific days.
Today, on the occasion of Pousha Purnima, the trinity has been adorned with the famous Raj Rajeshwara Besha.
