‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ opens to a blockbuster response, outshines ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’
Rishab Shetty’s Kantara, which was a huge hit in 2022 earning Rs 310 crore in India, is back with its prequel Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1.
Rishab Shetty’s highly anticipated ‘Kantara’ prequel ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ has had a flying start at the box office. The film’s advance booking in India began slowly but just a day before release, ticket sales surged dramatically.
As per reports, by the time the first show started, advance bookings had already earned around Rs 30 crore which included bulk bookings. Further, Last night’s paid premieres held received positive reviews, which encouraged more audiences to book tickets.
The strong response continued on the first day. Between 1 PM and 2 PM, nearly 83,000 tickets were sold online. By 4 PM, Kantara had earned Rs 33.25 crore, far ahead of Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, which earned Rs 4.03 crore in the same period.
With Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra holidays today, even more people are expected to visit cinemas, helping the collections grow. Kantara is expected to earn around Rs 40 crore on its first day, while Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari may cross Rs 12 crore.
Before release, both films faced a screen-sharing issue in North India, as distributors wanted maximum screens, creating a challenge for theatre owners. Despite this, Kantara has clearly taken the lead with a strong opening.
