India’s Got Latent: Supreme Court grants interim protection to Ranveer Allahbadia
The Supreme Court granted interim protection to YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia in the controversial India’s Got Latent matter.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court granted interim protection to YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia in the controversial India’s Got Latent matter. The Supreme Court asked the YouTuber to cooperate with the probe.
According to reports, the Supreme Court granted interim protection to Ranveer Allahbadia from arrest in connection with FIRs lodged against him across India over his recent inappropriate comments during his guest appearance on a show India’s Got Latent.
The Apex Court further said that, no further FIR shall be registered against him on the basis of episode aired on show India’s Got Latent. Supreme Court asked him to deposit his passport with police, and he can’t leave the country without permission from the court.
Supreme Court also issued notices on his plea seeking clubbing of FIRs and put an interim stay on arrest on FIRs registered in Maharashtra, Assam and Jaipur subject to his joining investigation.
He shall be at liberty to approach local police of Maharashtra and Assam for protection of life and liberty in case of any threat impeding him to join probe. The Supreme Court also directed Allahbadia and his associates to be off from show business for some time.
