Abhishek Bachchan finally won his first-ever Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his performance in Shoojit Sircar’s ‘I Want to Talk’ (2024), sharing it with fellow actor Kartik Aaryan. The actor thanked wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan during his emotional speech after the win.
Recently, reports had suggested that the couple was facing problems in their marriage, but Abhishek’s emotional moment at the 70th Filmfare Awards proved otherwise.
The actor starts his heartfelt speech by saying, “This year marks 25 years in the film industry, and I cannot remember how many times I’ve practised a speech for this award. This has been a dream, and I’m just so touched and humbled. Receiving it in front of my family is even more special.”
Abhishek then playfully joked with Kartik, asking him to wait for a while until he finished thanking everyone. “There’s a host of people I need to thank, so please… Kartik (Aaryan), ther jao tum abhi, tum sambhal jao tab tak. Kartik has gotten very emotional and made me speak, thinking I wouldn’t get emotional,” He added.
He the expressed his gratitude to all the directors and producers who had believed in him over the years, acknowledging that it had not been an easy journey but was worth every effort.
Turning to his family, he said, “To Aishwarya and Aaradhya, thank you for allowing me to go out and follow my dreams. I hope that by winning this award, they see that their sacrifices have been one of the main reasons I stand here today.”
Abhishek continues the speech by saying “and to win it on my father’s birthday — i couldn’t ask for more. i’m also very happy to share it with kartik aaryan, who was outstanding in chandu champion.”
The actor concludes with dedicating his award to his daughter and father. “I want to dedicate this award to two very special people. This film is about a father and a daughter, and I want to dedicate it to my hero, my father, and to my other hero, my daughter. Thank you so much, I cannot express what this means to me,” he says.
Earlier this year, while promoting his film Kaalidhar Laapata, he had spoken about how negative news and false rumours affected him and his family emotionally, emphasizing that even celebrities are hurt by such stories.
He spoke. The world listened.
