Toyota Fortuner mild hybrid variant launched in India, gets 48V mild-hybrid tech and costs Rs 44.72 lakh

The Neo Drive variants of Toyota Fortuner as well as Toyota Fortuner Legender get 48V mild-hybrid tech onboard.

Toyota has launched the mild hybrid variant of Fortuner as well as Legender SUVs in India. The booking for the hybrid variants of Fortuner as well as Legender starts today (June 2) and the deliveries will be from the third week of June. Toyota has named the hybrid variant as Neo Drive, just like the Hyryder as well as Glanza.

The Neo Drive variants of Toyota Fortuner as well as Legender get 48V mild-hybrid tech. While Fortuner costs Rs 44.72 lakh, Fortuner Legender costs Rs 50.09 lakh. Both the mild-hybrid variants are present at the top of their line-up (except GR-S variant). The above mentioned variants are offered in 4×4 configuration with AT. The Neo Drive costs Rs 2 lakh more as compared to the regular variant. There are more safety features on the SUVs as compared to standard variants.

In terms of engine, the Fortuner gets 2.8-litre diesel engine with 500Nm torque and 204hp of maximum power. The 48V hybrid system offers integrated starter generator with a lithium-ion battery. There is more fuel efficiency on the SUV as compared to the regular variants. The SUV is expected to get low-end acceleration and offer quieter drive.

There is no change on the exterior of the Neo Drive variants of Fortuner. A Neo Drive badge is the only thing that helps a person distinguish it from regular variant. There is dual-tone leather upholstery in the SUV. The features on the Neo Drive variants include 7 airbags, hill ascent, descent assist, traction control, ISOFIX mounts and 360-degree camera.
