RBI repo rate unchanged, GDP growth projected at 7.2%: RBI Governor

In a presser on Friday, the RBI Governor clarified that the repo rate shall remain unchanged. He further clarified the stance on RBI growth.

According to reports the RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said, “The real GDP growth for the current financial year 2024-25 is projected at 7.2% with Q1 at 7.3%, Q2 at 7.2%, Q3 at 7.3%, and Q4 at 7.2%. The risks are evenly balanced.”

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das on Friday announced the first monetary policy of the financial year 2024-25 and declared that the policy repo rate to remain steady at 6.5%.

The RBI decided to keep the key policy repo rate unchanged at 6.5% for the seventh consecutive time.

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said that the decision was made with five of the six members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) favouring no change in the repo rate.
