Dubai: Defending champions India defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets in their first Super-Four match at Dubai last night, courtesy skipper Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten 83 and Ravindara Jadeja’s 4-29.
Opting to bowl, the Men in Blue first bundled out Bangladesh for 173 in 49.1 overs, with spinner Jadeja, who replaced injured Hardik Pandya, bagging the maximum of 4 wickets. Pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah scalped 3 wickets each.
In chasing, Team India achieved the target with more than 13 overs to spare and 7 wickets in hand.
Besides captain Rohit, Shikhar Dhawan (40) and MS Dhoni (33) also made valuable contributions in the run chase.
Jadeja was adjudged Player of the match.
