Yet another Honour killing, 21-year-old woman shot dead by brother for dancing, modelling in Pakistan

Lahore: An another suspected case of honour killing in Pakistan, a 21-year-old woman has allegedly been shot dead by her brother for pursuing dancing and modelling as a career in Punjab.

The deceased has been identified as Sidra, a native of Renala Khurd Okara, 130 km from provincial capital Lahore, was reportedly modelling for a local clothing brand and danced in theatres of Faisalabad city, police said.

Report says, Sidra’s parents forced her to quit her profession, terming it against family tradition but Sidra insisted on continuing.

Last week Sidra had come home to Renala Khurd to celebrate Eid with her family. On Thursday she got into an argument with her parents and brother over the decency of her profession and beat her continously.

Later, Hamza opened fire on Sidra, killing her on the spot, officials said.

Hamza claimed he shot his sister in a fit of rage. a police officer said.

Meanwhile, police have registered a murder case against Hamza and claimed to have arrested him.
