Yet another blast reported in Kabul 20 minutes after suspected suicide bomb explosion near Airport

Kabul: Yet another blast has been reported in Kabul City this evening. According to reports, the explosion is said to have taken place near the Baron Hotel, a short distance from the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.

The explosion took place 20 minutes after a suspected suicide bomb exploded outside Kabul Airport. At least 13 people including children were killed while several others were injured due to the suicide bomb explosion.

According to Reuters, a Taliban official said that the blast outside Kabul airport occurred after the United States and its allies urged Afghans to leave the area because of a threat by Islamic State (IS).

“We can confirm that the explosion at the Abbey Gate was the result of a complex attack that resulted in a number of US & civilian casualties. We can also confirm at least one other explosion at or near the Baron Hotel, a short distance from Abbey Gate. We will continue to update,” said John Kirby, Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, USA.
