What is Ghost Wedding
Ghost weddings are 300-year-old tradition in China for the deceased people. Some elders think that people may not find peace in the afterlife if they die without getting married or fulfilling their wishes. A living individual takes part in the ghost marriage, representing the departed with their photo, worn clothes, and other artefacts. The ceremony adheres to traditional wedding rituals.
There are two other forms of ghost weddings in China that includes one involving a couple who either died before or during courtship, wherein the parents would then arrange a wedding and bury them together. The second is between people who were strangers all their life and are matched as a couple after death with the help of matchmakers.
