Tropical storm Nepartak might impact Tokyo Olympics

New Delhi: A tropical storm, Nepartak, has formed in the Philippine Sea, southeast of Japan and just north of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, informed the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. It might be an additional obstacle during the ongoing Tokyo Olympics which has begun on July 23.

According to sources, tropical storm Nepartak could make landfall at north of Tokyo early next week with wind of at least 74 kilometers per hour.

As of now there are currently no storm watches or warnings issued in Japan.

However. there is still a lot of uncertainty regarding the storm, including its path and intensity.

Tokyo is struggling with a surge of coronavirus cases that lead the government to declare a fourth state of emergency in the capital earlier this month.
