Bhubaneswar: 2019 is set to be a great year for star gazers. Super Blood Wolf Moon will occur on Jan 20-21. This is going to be a trifecta of three astronomically events- a lunar eclipse, Super blood moon, and Wolf Moon. Such an event shall not happen again until May 26, 2021.
The dates are based on the time zone the viewer is present in. National Geographic reported that the total lunar eclipse will begin at 10:11 am IST on January 21 (11:41 pm ET, January 20) and will last for 62 minutes.
India, and most of Asia will be missing out this grand event. Parts of Eastern Africa and Eastern Europe can enjoy the special event.
The super blood moon is a phenomenon where the moon appears reddish in colour and particularly large and bright, which occurs when a total eclipse coincides with its closest approach to the earth. And a full moon in the dead winter is called Wolf Moon. Hence, the event’s naming.
