Brazil: In a shocking incident, a 20-year-old woman died from cardiac arrest while travelling on a bus in Guarapuava with 26 iPhones strapped to her body, leading to suspicions of smuggling.
According to the reports, the woman started experiencing difficulty in breathing during her journey and collapsed mid-way. Emergency medical services responded quickly, arrived at the scene and performed CPR for about 45 minutes. Despite their efforts, she suffered a seizure and was declared dead at the scene.
While trying to revive her, the officials discovered several tightly packed items attached to her torso and legs. These were later discovered as 26 iPhones. Further, they also found bottles of alcohol in her luggage.
Police brought sniffer dogs to check for drugs, but no illegal substances were reportedly found. However, the Paraná Civil Police have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
The woman’s body has been sent to Forensic Medical Institute for examination. In addition, the seized phones remain with the Federal Revenue Service as inquiries continue.
