Saudi Crown Prince May Visit India In February

New Delhi: According to reports, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman may visit India next month in the backdrop of large-scale criticism by the international community over his handling of the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey last year.

It has also been reported that apart from India, Prince Salman is also likely to visit China and South Korea in February.

“The Crown Prince has drawn criticism from the international community, especially from the US and Europe, over his handling of the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. He apparently hopes to counter criticism from the US and Europe by deepening energy cooperation with Asia,” said a report by Nikkei Business Review journal.

Notably, Saudi Arabia is the world’s largest oil exporter and a major energy security partner of India. Prince Salman’s India visit is likely to strengthen India-Saudi Arabia energy cooperation, besides diplomatic ties between both the nations.
