Rare ‘Pink Moon’ to light up the sky today

The full moon known as the Pink Moon will be visible in India on April 17 at 12.25 am. The April full moon is named as Pink Moon after the pink flowers that bloom in spring season.

According to reports of NASA, the moon will have its complete shape this evening at 7:55 p.m.

The supermoon will be illuminated for just a moment at 12.25 am. However, the full moon will appear full for about three days centered on this time, from early Friday morning through early Monday morning, making this a full moon weekend.

The Pink Moon is also known as Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and among coastal tribes the Fish Moon. NASA noted that this full Moon also marks Hanuman Jayanti – a Hindu festival that commemorates the birth of the god Hanuman – and the Buddhist celebration Bak Poya.

April’s full moon is the Paschal full moon, an important moon to those who celebrate Easter. Easter will be celebrated on April 17 this year.

The next full Moon is the “Super Blood Flower Moon,” which will rise on May 16, 2022. Notably, there will be eight full moons in the sky in 2022.
