PM Modi Speaks To Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Consolidates Partnership

Abu Dhabi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke with the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and thanked him for inviting India as a guest of honour to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) address on March 1.

PM Modi and the Abu Dhabi crown prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, expressed happiness over the growing strength of all-round bilateral cooperation.

“They reiterated their commitment to further consolidate the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership,” a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said quoting the telephonic conversation.

“He (PM Modi) expressed hope that this historical participation would contribute to attaining the common objectives of peace and progress,” the statement added.

The participation of India in OIC came despite strong demand by Pakistan to rescind the invitation to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to address the grouping, which was turned down by the host UAE. Post this, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi boycotted the event.
