One killed, 3 cops injured in shooting near Israeli Embassy in Jordan
Jordan: A gunman, who was shot dead by police on Sunday, started firing in the Rabiah neighbourhood of Amman near the Israeli Embassy in Jordan on Sunday. Three police officers were reportedly injured in the gunbattle.
According to sources, the gunman started shooting at a police patrol in the Rabiah neighbourhood. So, the police had to take action and shot him. The gunman died in the shooting.
As per eyewitnesses, the police cordoned off an area near the embassy before the gunfight. Soon after, police and ambulances were called to the neighbourhood.
Following Israel war with Gaza, the area has seen a frequent protests and large rallies against the country. It is note worthy to mention that out of the 12 million people in ?Jordan, many of them are of Palestinian origin. Many of them fled to Jordan during the 1948 war that led to the creation of Israel. So they oppose Jordan’s peace treaty with Israel. They think normalisation as a betrayal of Palestinian rights.
Meanwhile, Police conducts searches for those people and urged people to stay indoors.
The police are conducting further investigation to ascertain what led to the incident.
