Odisha’s Sambalpuri Handloom at Cannes Film Festival, marks its graceful presence!

Bhubaneswar: While the much-anticipated Cannes Film Festival 2024 began with celebrated stars, filmmakers, and influencers from all over the world, internationally acclaimed Odisha-based filmmaker Jitendra Mishra and entrepreneur Partha Panda made an impression by wearing Sambalpuri handloom at Cannes.

While the typical attire for men at the Cannes Film Festival is a tuxedo or lavish suits, filmmakers Jitendra Mishra and Partha Panda chose Sambalpuri attire, highlighting the rich heritage and culture of Odisha. Audiences all over the world praised the silk’s vibrant color, distinct design, and texture.

He is among the select few Indian film producers and promoters credited with setting the global benchmark for “Alternative Methods of Film Production, Distribution, and Promotion.” Jitendra is dedicated to meaningful cinema and has already worked on over 110 films in a variety of capacities and categories, producing, distributing, and promoting them. Jitendra is a member of the Cannes Producers Network and has served on juries at over 50 international film festivals and forums.

Partha Panda on the other hand is a British national with roots in Jagatsinghpur of Odisha. He  has been actively promoting Indian cinema, art, and culture through a variety of projects. His production company, Glocal Films UK Limited, has been creating and releasing audio-visual works in a range of genres.

This entry of Sambalpuri Handloom at Cannes has made Odias proud. Various celebrities have been seen walking down the red carpet clad in designer attires.
