Nasa’s spacecraft Juno had got close encounter with the volcanic world in the solar system and has captured mesmerizing pictures ever.
The spacecraft got very close to the IO, the giant moon of Jupiter on December 30. It passed some 930 miles (1500 kms) from the moon’s surface.
The Juno had to undergo high levels of radiation around the Jupiter and it damaged the entire process.
Nasa published the first image of the volcanic moon on December 31 on their social media post X, ” The Juno Cam instrument abroad out Juno Mission acquired six images of Jupiter’s moon IO during its close encounter today. This black and white view was taken at an altitude of about 1, 500 miles (2,500 kms).

Even more images of IO and of Jupiter itself will be available soon from the mission’s image website.
NASA again plans another ultra close flyby on Feb 3, 2024.
