Lockdown returns back in China’s Lanzhou a city of 4 million

Beijing: Lockdown has returned back in China as a city of 4 million Lanzhou the provincial capital of northwestern province Gansu has detected COVID-19 cases. The development came after China reported 29 deaths due to Covid-19.

Officials in Lanzhou said the “entry and exit of residents” would be strictly controlled and limited to essential supplies or medical treatment.

“All types of residential communities are to implement closed management,” authorities said in a statement.

China has been re-imposing lockdowns across several parts of the country after over 100 cases of COVID-19 were reported in 11 provinces over the past about a week.

According to reports, the recent outbreak of coronavirus in China was reported on October 16, when a group of fully vaccinated senior citizens were tested positive for COVID-19 in China’s Shanghai who traveled in several northern regions. Among the 133 infections reported as of Sunday, 106 were linked to 13 tour groups, according to Mi, the NHC health official.

The government imposed entry restrictions in Beijing, making it mandatory for travellers from COVID-19 affected areas to present a negative COVID-19 report and 14-days of quarantine.
