Indian Woman Killed In Kabul Bomb Attack
Kabul: An Indian woman, among four others, were killed in a truck bomb attack which took place near a fortified residential complex for foreign workers in Kabul on Monday night.
In an official statement on Tuesday, India condemned the attack and called for the “perpetrators of this heinous attack and those who provide them shelter” to be brought to justice at the earliest.
According to Tolo News, a bomb-laden truck exploded near Green Village compound on Monday night, with the blast reportedly heard throughout the capital city. Besides a death toll of four, around 90 people are reportedly injured. The wounded also include 23 children and 12 women.
As per sources, the Indian woman hails from Rajasthan and was working in an organisation active in the civil society sphere. She was killed after her residence collapsed due to the blast wave.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. Furthermore, a Taliban spokesperson has vowed to carry out more such attacks in retaliation for the appointment of Amrullah Saleh as Interior Minister.
“India strongly condemns the horrific terror attack in Kabul yesterday, in which an Indian national and many others lost their lives,” said a press release from the Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday afternoon.
