Indian Air Force’s C-17 aircraft evacuates 168 people from Kabul

New Delhi: Indian Air Force’s C-17 special aircraft carrying 168 people, including 107 Indian nationals landed at IAF’s Hindon airbase in Ghaziabad at around 10 am from Afghanistan’s Kabul on Sunday.

The flight took off from Kabul earlier in the day, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi took to his Twitter handle and informed about the evacuation, stating, “Evacuation continues! IAF special repatriation flight with 168 passengers on board, including 107 Indian nationals, is on its way to Delhi from Kabul.”

Meanwhile, another group of 87 Indians who were evacuated from Kabul to Tajikistan on Saturday in an Indian air force plane are being flown to New Delhi on Sunday, Bagchi said in a tweet. Two Nepalese nationals also were evacuated on that flight.

 

 

People are waiting for their RTPCR tests at Hindon Air Force Station, Ghaziabad after being evacuated from Afghanistan’s Kabul, amid a takeover of power by the Taliban.

The first batch of 135 Indians who were evacuated from Kabul to Doha in the past are being repatriated to India. The second C-17 aircraft evacuated around 150 people including Indian diplomats, officials, security personnel and some stranded Indians from Kabul.

The Taliban captured Afghanistan on 15th August 2021, overpowering almost all key towns and cities including the capital Kabul.
