Former US Vice-President Walter Mondale No More

Bhubaneswar:  Former US Vice President Walter Mondale died on Monday in Minneapolis, He was 93.

The death of the former senator, ambassador and Minnesota attorney general was announced in a statement by the family.

Mondale began his career as Minnesota’s attorney general, his final public post was U.S. ambassador to Japan. He was Jimmy Carter’s running mate for his winning 1976 presidential bid and defeat four years later.

Mr Carter said he considered Mondale “the best vice president in our country’s history.”

He was Carter’s vice president from 1977 to 1981. He also was a U.S. senator from Minnesota.

In a statement Monday night, Carter said he considered Mondale “the best vice president in our country’s history.” He added: “Fritz Mondale provided us all with a model for public service and private behavior.”
