Former US Prez George HW Bush Passes Away At 94
Washington DC: Former American President George HW Bush, who steered the USA through the end of the Cold War, passed away on Friday. He was 94.
In a statement announcing his death, George W Bush called his father “man of the highest character and the best dad a son or daughter could ask for.”
The presidency of George HW Bush had soared with the coalition victory over Iraq in Kuwait, but then plummeted due to a weak economy that led voters to reject him after a single term. Bush was a World War II hero who saw the collapse of the Soviet Union as well as the end of the Cold War.
George HW Bush was the son of a senator and the father of former American President George W Bush. He rose from the position of a congressman to UN ambassador to Republican Party chairman and even served as the US envoy to China.
Note worthy, Bush’s death comes months after the death of his wife and the former first lady of USA Barabara Bush in April. The couple were married for 73 years.
