Deadly Russian strikes kill 14 across Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities
Russian aerial attack on Kyiv resulted in 14 fatalities and 44 injuries marking one of the most horrific attacks on Ukraine’s capital in months since full-scale war began.
Kyiv: A deadly Russian drone and missile strike hit Kyiv overnight, triggering loud blasts and fires across the city. While 14 people were killed, over 20 others were injured, and several buildings were damaged following the missile and drone strikes. Air raid sirens blared for hours as people took shelter.
According to media reports, a nine-storey building collapsed in one district, trapping many inside. Fires broke out as emergency teams rushed in.
Missile and drone attacks were also reported in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and other regions. The nationwide assault caused panic and widespread damage.
On the other hand, Ukraine’s air force shot down many incoming drones and missiles reportedly fired by Russia. Still, debris caused chaos on the ground. Rescuers worked non-stop to pull people from the rubble.
According to preliminary findings, Russia deployed 175 drones, more than 14 cruise missiles, and at least two ballistic missiles in the attack, released Tuesday.
President Zelenskyy accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilians. He vowed stronger defence efforts. Kyiv’s mayor confirmed rescue operations are ongoing.
This was Kyiv’s deadliest strike this year. Over 12,000 civilians have died in the war so far. Global leaders are again calling for urgent peace talks. The attack coincided with G7 summit, where discussions on continued support for Ukraine are underway.
