Bangladesh bans several social medial platform including Instagram, Whatsapp, Youtube and Tiktok

Dhaka: The Bangladesh government on Saturday has banned on several leading social media apps including Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, YouTube and Facebook.

This action restricts access to these widely-used apps throughout the country. The nationwide ban on social media platforms was imposed by the government on August 2.

This move has been taken amid the ongoing students protest demanding reforms in the quota system for government jobs in Bangladesh.

According to Global eyes News, Bangladesh blocked access to social media platforms across the country with immediate effect. the country had imposed ban on all meta platforms like Facebook and Instagram in the month of July.  On July 31, the government unblocked social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube only after the curfew restriction was relaxed

This is not the first time people in Bangladesh have been unable to access the internet.

The decision of banning on social media platforms came after Turkey announced ban on Instagram earlier the same day.
