At least 16 killed as Russian missile hits shopping center in Ukraine

As many as 16 people were killed and 59 wounded in the Russian missile strike on a shopping mall in the central city of Kremenchuk, said the head of Ukraine’s emergency services on Tuesday.

“As of now, we know of 16 dead and 59 wounded, 25 of them hospitalised. The information is being updated,” Sergiy Kruk said on Telegram.

The official said that they are currently trying to rescue the trapped people while remove debris and putting out the fire in the shopping centre.

Earlier, Zelensky had revealed in a tweet that Russia has struck a shopping centre in Kremenchuk in Ukraine, while over thousand people are inside.

“The mall is on fire, rescuers are fighting the fire. The number of victims is impossible to imagine,” Zelensky had wrote on Facebook.

The Ukrainian president also shared a video of the incident which shows the mall engulfed in flames with dozens of rescuers and a fire truck outside.

The Ukrainian air force said the mall was hit by Kh-22 anti-ship missiles fired from Tu-22 bombers from the region of Kursk in western Russia.
