Afghanistan: Explosion outside Kabul Airport, casualties unclear at this time

Kabul: A large explosion reportedly took place outside Kabul Airport this evening, informed John Kirby, Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, USA.

Kirby, on his Twitter handle, said, “We can confirm an explosion outside Kabul airport. Casualties are unclear at this time. We will provide additional details when we can.”

The explosion reportedly took place at one of the entry gates of Kabul airport. The blast took place hours after western intelligence agencies warned of an imminent terrorist threat.

“A suspected suicide bomb exploded outside Kabul airport, killing at least 13 people including children, a Taliban official said, after the United States and allies urged Afghans to leave the area because of a threat by Islamic State,” said a report from the Reuters.
