7 people injured after unknown man open fire on vehicles along highway in US’ kentucky
Washington: At least 7 people were injured after an unknown man opened gunfire at vehicles traveling on Interstate 75, about nine miles outside of the town of London in Laurel County on Saturday. The Kentucky police is currently searching for the suspect along the rugged terrain near a national forest.
The police have also issued an warning for the people to be aware of the suspect and to keep their door locked.
According to sources, the incident took place around 6 p.m. (1000 GMT) about nine miles outside of the town of London. Some people informed the police officers that gunshots were being directed at vehicles traveling on Interstate 75 from a wooded area or an overpass.
The police soon closed the stretch of highway near the shooting site. But, opened it after some time even though the suspect is on the run.
As per a Facebook post by Mayor Randall Weddle of London, a small city of about 8,000 near the Daniel Boone National Forest, about 90 miles (145 km) south of Lexington, said that seven people were injured, including some who were shot.
Meanwhile, there have been no reports about any fatalities in the incident.
The Mayor has also advised people to keep their doors locked while the suspect is on the loose.
About three hours after the shooting, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office named a 32-year-old man named a Joseph A Couch as the “person of interest” and said that he was “armed and dangerous” and cautioned the public not to approach the 32-year-old man.
