7.1 magnitude earthquake strikes southern Japan, tsunami alert issued
A strong 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit southern Japan on Tuesday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said, issuing a tsunami alert.
New Delhi: A strong 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit southern Japan on Tuesday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said, issuing a tsunami alert.
The earthquake occurred at island of Kyushu,Kumamoto.
As per reports, The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a warning for tsunami waves measuring up to 1m (3.28 feet) after the earthquake.
Japan has also issued warnings for more eathquakes across Kyushu island, including Nagasaki, Kagoshima, Fukuoka, Saga, Oita, Miyazaki and Kumamoto itself.
This marks second earthquake in Japan in a single week. On July 25 a magnitude of 7.2 earthquake hit northern Japan, no casualties were reported.
