29 passengers killed as bus plunges into ditch in Pakistan

Rawalpindi: As many as 29 passengers were reportedly killed as the bus in which they were traveling fell into a ditch near Pana Bridge of Pakistan’s Punjab province on Sunday.

Geo News, quoting sources, reported that the accident took place while the bus with 30 passengers was on its way to Rawalpindi from Haveli Kahuta tehsil in Rawalpindi district. However, under what circumstances the accident occurred is yet to be known.

On being informed, police and rescue teams reached the spot of the accident after getting information and are retrieving the bodies from the bus with the help of the local residents. Besides, efforts by the officers are underway to establish the identities of the deceased persons.

Meanwhile, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep grief over the loss of lives following the accident. “My sympathies are with the bereaved families in this hour of sorrow,” he said, according to a post shared by his party, PPP, on the X platform.

Likewise, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said, “May Allah exalt the ranks of those who died in this tragedy and grant patience to their loved ones.”
