New Delhi: At least two people have been killed and others wounded in a shooting near a popular summer festival in Toronto, Canada, officials said.

Toronto Police had issued an active shooter alert after the sound of gunshots near the annual Salsa on St. Clair festival, one of Canada’s biggest festivals of Latin American culture.

They have since secured the area, but the suspect or suspects are still at large, authorities reported.

“It seems like it started with a gunfight between two people. So this does not appear to be random,” police spokesman Insp.

Two firearms have been recovered from the scene as officers try to piece together what happened and seek help from the public.

No suspects have been arrested. It was not immediately clear what prompted the shooting.
