New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl was attacked by a lion near Kenya’s Nairobi National Park. The lion strayed out of Nairobi National Park and entered a residential compound where he attacked the girl.
According to a statement given by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), the girl was roaming with her friend when the lion dragged her away. Her friend raised an alarm. The wildlife officials quickly responded and followed the bloodstains but could not recue her. Later, they found her body at Mbagathi River with severe injuries on her lower back.
According to the sources, KWS has launched a search operation to capture the lion. Traps have been set up and additional security measures have also been taken to prevent such incidents further.
The incident has raised concerns about the growing conflicts between human and wildlife.
A similar incident took place just a day earlier, where a 54-year-old man was killed by an elephant in Nyeri county, which is about 130km north of Nairobi.
Nairobi National Park is located at just 10 km away from the city. This park is home to various wild animals.
