11 killed, over 100 injured in gas explosion in Central China

Hong Kong:  At least 11 people succumbed and over 100 injured after gas explosion in central China on Sunday, the state media reported.

The blast occurred at around 6.30 am local time in China i.e 9.30 AM in India. The blast took place in the Yanhu market of  Shiyan city at  Zhangwan district

Nearly 140 people have been rescued so far by the authorities including 39 serious injuries.  The blast has destroyed many buildings and injured people. The city’s municipal department initially said “many” people were trapped after the incident.

The video footage and images circulating on social media platform Weibo , a microblogging social networking site of  China showed rescue teams working on destroyed buildings.

A clear explanation about the accident is yet to be informed and is under investigation.
