Navratri 2025: Know what to eat and what to avoid during fast
Navratri is celebrated for nine days after which comes Dasami or Dussehra devotees observe fast in these days. Read to know what you can eat.
The much awaited nine days of the year – Navratri is just a day away. It is observed from Pratipada to Navami and then Dussehra or Dasami is celebrated.
Devotees worship Maa Durga’s nine forms in these days and observe fasts.
Here are some food that you can eat for your Navratri fast:
Puris:You can make puris and rotis made of buckwheat, rajgira and water chestnut flour. Roll into a roti and make deep fried puris, your health during the fast will not deteriorate. This improves blood sugar control and helps in digestion.
Sabudana:Sabudana is high in fibre and is a rich source of essential amino acids. You can use it to make khichdi, vadas or kheer.
Vegetables:Vegetables like Gourd, potato, spinach, tomato and capsicum can be consumed.
Sendha namak:Instead of regular salt, rock salt or sendha namak should be used.
Stay hydrated with fruit juices and milk:One needs to avoid wheat, rice and their products during the fasting days. Pulses and beans, onion and garlic should also be avoided.
