GST 2.0: What's Cheaper for You

The GST council has rolled out a two slabs structure 5% and 18% with effect from Sep 2025. This change makes things more affordable in daily essential items.

Daily Essential:Personal care and house hold

Hair oil, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shaving cream and kitchenware now have just 5% GST, which was 12-18% earlier. 

Food items-Basic staples

Butter, ghee, cheese, packaged snack food (namkeen, bhujia), sauces, pasta, cornflakes, dry fruits, biscuits now have just 5% GST

Healthcare & Vision

33 life-saving medicines are now GST-free (0%), from 12% earlier. Spectacles and goggles for eyes have been reduced to 5% from 28%.

Home & Construction Materials

GST on cement lower from 28% to 18% reducing construction costs

Electronics & Durables

Air conditioners, dishwashers, and TVs are now taxed at 18% rather than 28%.

Care & Mobility

Small petrol vehicles, diesel vehicles, two-wheelers, three-wheelers now 18% GST

Dairy Products

Ghee, butter, cheese, condensed milk, milk-based drinks, and ice cream are now at 5%.

These changes will lower inflaratory pressure, assits rural and urban demannds, enhances manufacturing, and relive financial pressure.

GST 2.0 brings in a consumer frinedly tax regime where day by day product are cheaper. it's a stuctural change meant to reward consumer directly.
