Broccoli recipes: Ways to cook this winter vegetable

Winters are here, and so is the time to bring in all the winter vegetables to our kitchen.

One such staple is broccoli that can be easily turned into a range of recipes – and they are delicious

From roasted broccoli to broccoli spaghetti, soup, stir-fry, and salad, they are easy to make and are equally nutritious.

Roasted broccoli

Toss the broccoli florets in oil, salt, pepper, chopped garlic, and chilli flakes and cook for some time. Later, spread them on a baking tray and roast until browned and crisp. Finish off with lemon juice and cheese.

Broccoli spaghetti

Cook spaghetti as required. In another pan, saute broccoli, chopped garlic and chilli flakes. Drain the excess water and add the spaghetti. Season with salt, pepper and a sprinkle of parmesan to make it flavourful.

Broccoli soup

Sauté chopped onions and garlic in a pan until soft. Next, add the broccoli florets with vegetable or chicken stock. Simmer until it gets tender, later blend and season with salt, pepper, and a bit of cream.

Stir-fry broccoli

This is a perfect side dish for rice or noodles. Simply add the florets in a wok with oil, chopped ginger and garlic, and stir-fry on high flame for a few minutes. Add soy sauce, sesame seeds, and chilli flakes. Serve hot.

Broccoli salad

You can cook the broccoli florets for a few minutes or use them raw. Combine it with chopped onions, cherry tomatoes, shredded carrots, and other vegetables of your choice. Toss with a dressing of your choice, nuts, seeds, and cheese for the extra flavour.
