Bhadrak, Apr 06: Tension gripped the town as Bajrang Dal and Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists protesting an objectionable photo and offensive remarks on Lord Ram on social media blocked the main road by burning tyres here on Thursday.
While many vehicles passing through the route were seen stranded on the road, shops and other business establishments remained closed in view of the prevailing tension.
Demanding arrest of the persons involved in posting of such objectionable photo and offensive remarks on social media, the protesters gheraoed the Town police station.
Meanwhile, the Bhagat Sena Ram Navmi Samiti lodged a complaint with the police in this regard.
Section 144 of CrPC was clamped in the town following the uproar. Besides, heavy police forces have been deployed in the town to maintain law and order.
